Embarking on a New Research Journey: Investigating Creative Integrity in Poster Design

I am thrilled to announce that I have been awarded my 5th competitive research grant as the Principal Investigator (PI) for a project continuing my research on creative integrity! The grant was awarded by the CoHASS Research Support Grant Scheme (Arts & Humanities Track) at NTU. My project, titled The Poster as a Mechanism for Creative Integrity: Conversations with Contemporary Poster Design Masters, will focus on exploring the ways in which poster design can be used to convey creative integrity. I will be conducting interviews with some of the most prominent names in contemporary poster design, curating a selection of their work for exhibition, and including them in an inaugural book publication on the topic. Huge thank you to Ryan Sloan, Rikke Hansen and Byoungil-Sun for agreeing to support this project.

Poster design is a particularly interesting area of study when it comes to creative integrity. Posters are a unique and powerful medium for communicating ideas, and they are often created with a specific purpose in mind. As such, they require a great deal of creativity and originality to be effective, and the best examples often showcase a designer's unique creative vision.

By exploring the work of contemporary posterists, I hope to gain insight into the ways in which they use their medium to convey their own unique creative perspectives. I am particularly interested in the ways in which they navigate the tension between creative expression and commercial considerations, as this is often a key challenge for designers working in any field.

The exhibition and book publication resulting from this project will provide a valuable resource for anyone interested in poster design, as well as those looking to explore the concept of creative integrity in design more broadly. I believe that this project has the potential to make a significant contribution to our understanding of these important issues, and I am excited to share my findings with the academic and creative communities.

Once again, I am deeply grateful to have been awarded this grant, and I am looking forward to the exciting work that lies ahead.
