The True Measure of a Woman

The True Measure of a Woman

This work represents the way society judges women by their physical appearance and oftentimes derives their value based on aesthetics alone. The vector-based graphic elements abstractly represent the female form and large, bold serif typography metaphorically represents the loud voice we hear to conform to societies’ measure of the female role. This was a somewhat cathartic piece, intended to visually explore my own negative self-talk and learn to appreciate myself for who I am and not for how I look; a reminder that my worth is more than my outer appearance. And perhaps more importantly The True Measure of a Woman is intended as a call to action to all women to acknowledge and recognise their own value and worth -

you are more than what you see.
