BETWEEN NOSTALGIA AND OBLIVION

Between Nostalgia and Oblivion is a poster design which metaphorically investigates the explosion in Beirut, Lebanon back in August 2020. The model, a Lebanese national, described the feeling of displacement and disbelief when the news came in. He reminisced of a childhood in Lebanon and when faced with the fact many of the places from his childhood had been destroyed he described his desire for a state of oblivion so he did not have to face that reality. The model is intentionally positioned at an angle which is displaced from reality, defying gravity. The expression is one of uncertainty and being lost in thought. The typography is intentionally provocative and leads the viewers eyes in circles to confuse and confound.
