ALL EYES ON YOU

Having lived in the Middle East for the best part of a decade and being wonderfully immersed and welcomed into an amazing Arabic family, I was inspired by this rich culture and my husband’s belief in the ‘evil eye’; believed to be a curse cast by a malevolent glare, usually given to a person when one is unaware.

The hamsa (hand symbol) is believed by many Middle Easterners, to provide defence against the evil eye and symbolically features subtly within my poster design of many eyes. The Arabic text simply says ‘Eye’. The newsprint is from a Palestinian text and represents the discord in the region with the notion that we are watching and we see the atrocities being committed.
